Success is completing or finishing what we intended to do. It is relative because what is classed as being successful for A, may be a starting point for B.

The ‘D’ Factor highlights a few success strategies which affect our everyday life. Some times we overlook these factors in our quest to become successful people.

The ‘D’ factor is simply developing strategies for success. The ‘D’ Factor focuses on developing certain aspects of our life which point us in the direction of becoming successful people.

These success strategies are as follows:

Developing Integrity:

According to Stanford Encyclopaedia Of Philosophy, Integrity when used as a virtue term, refers to the quality of a person’s character. It also refers to various parts or aspects of a person’s life such as professionalism and intellectualism. I believe developing a level of integrity contributes to being successful and in order to do so you must:

  • Learn to be a positive example: In our dealings with people we need to act responsibly and be a positive example knowing people would benefit from you exhibiting proper conduct or acceptable behaviour. The world is watching and a lot of people associate with successful people for right/wrong reasons. Being an example creates a level of influence with upcoming or successful people and this creates an impact within your zone.
  • Learn to think right: I have stressed on being optimistic in my previous posts, so I wouldn’t really make a fuss about it here, but in summary thinking positively changes your perception to life and improves your outlook to being successful. Successful people are always optimistic people, ready to face challenges at anytime.
  • Learn to live by and acquire positive principles: Being successful comes with it’s own pecks being firm and principled will guide you in many ways particularly when there is a tendency to get drowned in your achievements losing sight of other laurels to be won.

Develop your level of Focus:

  • This involves giving total concentration and attention to things that would increase your level of success. Focus is simply giving priority to things that must be done rather than to things you would like to do. (Please note there are times for doing things you’d love to do).
  • Concentrating on tasks that should be done rather than one’s you would like to do (although to a reasonable extent are important) brings about fulfilment and satisfaction at the end of the day, knowing you have accomplished what you initially set out to do and you can get other things done without any worries running through your mind about outstanding tasks.

Develop Self Confidence:

A further extension of the ‘D’ Factor is developing self confidence. This is important in becoming a successful person. I have blogged about self confidence in previous posts but a few tips on how self confidence pushes you towards a level of success is as follows:

  • Doing what you believe is right even if criticized.
  • Taking risks to achieve success
  • Learning from mistakes you come across on the journey to success.
  • If not handled properly self confidence could be destructive and your success could take a downward spiral. This is where the cloak of humility needs to be worn.

Finally the last highlight in the ‘D’ factor is

Developing Positive Relationships:

Networking with people is an essential tool to being successful. You need to establish partnerships with people in order to fulfil their goals in addition to implementing yours. Success can’t be attained alone. There is a process of being interlinked with the dreams of others in order to achieve personal success. Successful people network to share ideas, develop working platforms, map out strategies…. Learning from the experience of others helps you attain success when dealing with similar events.

I look forward to various responses/contributions to factors which enhance one’s ability to become successful in life.
